  • Chile stressed the need for the ISA and OSPAR to collaborate while respecting their respective mandates.

  • Morocco believes that test mining is key to assess the efficacy of current technologies and approaches, but also to drive ongoing innovation aimed at creating more sustainable and less invasive mining techniques. 
  • The delegation noted that test mining must occur before the approval of a plan of work for exploitation. The data gathered should form the basis for the environmental impact assessments and standards.

  • Along with France, Morocco is opposed to reinstating the live broadcasting of the meeting on UN Web TV. When Costa Rica asked for a vote, Morocco backed down from this position.
