Priorities for 10th meeting of the Scientific Committee to the Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement

The Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA), signed in 2006 and entered into force in 2012, currently has 13 Contracting Parties including Australia, China, Comoros, the Cook Islands, European Union, France (Overseas Territories), India, Japan, Korea, Mauritius, Seychelles, Chinese Taipei, Thailand. ​​The Agreement seeks to ensure the long-term conservation and sustainable use of the fishery resources, and promote the sustainable development of fisheries, taking into account the needs of developing States bordering the Area.

The 10th Meeting of the Scientific Committee to SIOFA will be held from March 17 to 26 in Concarneau Marine Station, France. Attending as an official Observer, the DSCC will draw attention to key issues requiring urgent attention by the Scientific Committee and promote the following SC recommendations for adoption at the next meeting of the parties to SIOFA (July 2025, Mauritius).
