Lissette Victorero

Science Advisor

DSCC team member Lissette Victorero

Dr. Lissette Victorero is a deep-sea ecologist with expertise in deep-sea fisheries and macroecology of deep-sea habitats, such as seamounts and hydrothermal vents. During her academic journey, Lissette completed her Ph.D. at the National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton, UK, where she conducted research on the biodiversity of seamounts. Lissette has worked at the French National History Museum and at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research as a FRIPRO Research Fellow awarded by the Norwegian Research Council, conducting research on deep-sea biogeography. Lissette also serves as the leader of the Deep Ocean Stewardship Initiative’s (DOSI) Fisheries Working Group, a role that underscores her commitment to promoting ecosystem-based management of resource use in the deep ocean using the best available science.

Lissette joined the DSCC as a scientific advisor for the Global Seamounts Campaign in 2023. She provides scientific expertise on deep-sea fisheries and Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems, facilitating science based fisheries management decisions at the European Union and Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs) level, bridging the gap between research, conservation and policy.
